The Australian Government today welcomed Indonesia's decision to grant continued access for Australian horticulture suppliers to Jakarta's main seaport of Tanjung Priok.

The access was secured when Indonesia exempted Australian exporters from a ban, effective from today, on the entry of horticultural products to the port on the basis of Australia's Country Recognition status.

The Indonesian Government's decision to retain Australia as a secure and reliable supplier of safe and nutritious fruit and vegetables recognises the high standards of Australia's biosecurity and food safety regimes.

Australia is committed to working with Indonesia on biosecurity and food safety issues.  

Indonesia is an important market for Australian horticulture exports, and one where Indonesia's continued strong economic growth bodes well for the expansion of trade ties.  

Within Indonesia's regulatory requirements, we will continue to work closely with our Indonesian partners to build a strong and mutually beneficial trade in horticulture, as well as other agricultural products.

As neighbours, and increasingly close partners, Australia and Indonesia have much to gain from developing new, and expanding existing, trade opportunities.
